About

I'm a historian of twentieth-century Germany and of gender and sexuality. My publications on German history range from the Wilhelmine period to the years following German reunification. They have explored state regulation of gender and sexuality in fascist, democratic, and communist states; memory; the social upheavals of war; the history of business and consumption; and celebrity and the media. I've also edited a book on the history of sexual violence in conflict zones from the ancient world to the late twentieth century.
